A Leamington company has sealed its success and expanded into new state-of-the-art manufacturing headquarters.
Leeson Polyurethanes, which was set up by David and Kathleen Leeson in 1986, is the UK’s largest manufacturer of formulated polyurethanes which are used as binders and coatings by a range of industry sectors.
The firm has invested over £4 million into a new custom-built complex just yards away from its previous 25,000 sqft base at Tachbrook Park to help drive its ongoing expansion plans.
Coventry-based solicitors Band Hatton Button, on Warwick Road, were appointed to oversee the legal process having assisted the company with the acquisition of the land right through to practical completion.
Leeson Polyurethanes will now begin its move into the new 52,000 sqft manufacturing and headquarters facility where it also plans to expand its workforce from 29 employees to 40.
The company has witnessed significant growth having recorded 20 per cent growth last year and hopes to achieve a further 30 per cent next year.
It won the Queens Award for Export in 2007 and the firm’s products – which are used in floor coatings, waterproofing, anti-skid surfaces, sports pitches and as adhesives in a range of sectors including construction and leisure – are exported to more than 50 countries.
David Leeson said: “We have achieved more than a decade of growth since moving to the park in 2001 and felt that it was the right time to move forward with our expansion plans.
“It is great to have a totally bespoke unit that we can to tailor to meet the needs of the business and we are confident that the move will help to boost our offering.
“Leeson Polyurethanes is a family-run business and our son Joel will also be at the forefront the company’s ongoing expansion plans.
“We currently export 35 per cent of what we manufacture and we are hoping to increase this to 45 per cent at the same time as securing new clients.
He added: “It is the first time we have worked with Band Hatton Button and they have played an integral role throughout the development process.
“We have had our eye on the land for some time and Band Hatton Button helped to ensure that we were able to expand in the same locality which will mean as little upheaval as possible during the move.”
Haydn Jones, who is a partner at Band Hatton Button and specialises in corporate and commercial property law, added: “It was great to work with Leeson Polyurethanes and assist the company with its expansion plans.
“We have been involved with the development process right from the start, first helping with the acquisition of the land and then with the builder and developer agreements right through to practical completion.
“We are very pleased with how quickly and smoothly the development has come together and are sure that the new headquarters will stimulate further growth for the company in the future.”
