Members of staff from one of South Wales’ leading law firms will be taking part in one of Cardiff’s biggest fundraising events to raise money for Bobath Therapy Centre Wales.
Three members of staff from HardingEvans will take part in the Cardiff Half Marathon on the 5th of October, with the hope of raising at least £500.
Joy Baker, Amanda Campbell and Sarah Price, who are part of #TeamHE, are currently training hard for the event, which will see them run more than 13 miles.
Paralegals Joy and Amanda will both be aiming for personal bests, while Marketing Officer Sarah is looking forward to taking part in her first half marathon.
Sarah said: “I started running last October and I am really looking forward to taking part in my first half marathon. As part of my training I thought it would be a great experience to also take part in the Cardiff 10K in September.
“The idea is to raise as much money as possible for an important charity and for the work they do for children with cerebral palsy in Wales.”
Bobath Wales is a specialist treatment centre providing individually tailored Bobath therapy to children, from birth to 18, who have cerebral palsy and other allied neurological conditions. Their aim is to improve the quality of life for children so that they are healthy and active, and can participate in everyday life to the best of their ability.
Joy Baker, who works in the firm’s Medical Negligence department, said: “I am very excited to be taking part in my first Cardiff half marathon. I have enjoyed training with the team and I am now striving to achieve a personal best.
“As part of the medical negligence department I see the good work that Bobath Wales do and it’s great to be running for such a worthy cause.”
HardingEvans chose Bobath Wales as their charity of the year in 2013 and have continued to raise money for them since.
The firm selected the charity for the ‘amazing work’ they do for children with cerebral palsy, providing specialist Bobath therapy to children from all over Wales.
Amanda, who works in the firm’s Trusts and Estates department said: “Having not done any road running for quite a while, I thought that running in aid of a good cause such as Bobath Wales was an excellent way of getting back into it.
“All in all, even though the training is tough and will continue to be, I am happy to undergo the process in aid of a well worthy charity that I hope myself and my colleagues will manage to raise lots of money for.”
Emma Brooks, Trusts & Legacies Coordinator from Bobath Wales said: “We are very grateful to HardingEvans for their wonderful support.
“We know that #TeamHE have been training hard and we are confident that they will do very well in October. Competing a half marathon is no easy task, which just goes to show their dedication to the cause.”
