Construction is now well underway to build a brand new housing development on the former site of Tresham College on St Mary’s Road, Kettering.
The £4.8m partnership project, being built by Loughborough-based contractor and developer, William Davis Ltd on behalf of Waterloo Housing Group, will provide 40 affordable homes for rent and shared ownership.
With part funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), the Government’s national housing and regeneration body, and key support from Kettering Borough Council and North Northants Development Company, the new scheme will provide much needed housing for the area.
Richard Cornes, partnerships director, William Davis said: “The former Tresham College campus had become run down and unfit for purpose. Together with our partners, we are looking forward to witnessing the transformation of this site and the creation of a thriving, sustainable community for local residents.”
Anthony Riley, group director of development and operations at Waterloo added: “It is very rewarding to be working with William Davis and other partners to build new affordable homes in Kettering. The benefit is not only in the provision of much-needed homes, but in stimulating the local economy with construction employment and related spending.”
The new development, which will also include eight family homes for private sale, is set to regenerate a key gateway to Kettering town centre and rejuvenate the St Mary’s Road surroundings.
