A leading skateboard firm, which is riding high as the sport continues to grow, has more than doubled its premises in Southampton, national commercial property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) announced today.
Australian-based Absolute Board Co, which manufactures and distributes high quality skateboards in more than 60 countries worldwide, has moved from Griffin Industrial Park to take on 28,923 sq ft at Marchwood Industrial Park, Marchwood.
Units 1A.1 and 1A.2 were the last units available at the park and it is now fully occupied for the first time since owners Oceanic Estates bought the 120-acre former power station site
Absolute Board Co, which is owned by Brisbane skateboarder Ben Mackay, agreed a five-year lease on the premises and a rent of £6.50 per sq ft. LSH acted as joint agents with JLL for Oceanic Estates, while BNP Paribas acted for Absolute Board Co.
Adrian Whitfield, director of industrial and logistics agency in LSH’s South Coast office, said: “This is certainly a good news story for Southampton, with business for Absolute Board Co booming, which necessitates moving to larger premises. The units at Marchwood Industrial Park are in a prime location and have proven to be very popular.”
Marchwood Industrial Park is on the western bank of Southampton Water, opposite the container terminal and docks. It is close to Southampton city centre, the M271 and M27 motorway links.
The modern units were built in 2006 and benefit from steel portal frame construction with power floated concrete floors and are accessed by two full height up and over loading doors. With views over Southampton Water, Unit 1A.1 has 6.5-metre eaves and first-floor offices, while 1A.2 has offices and storage room. Both benefit from round-the-clock security.
