Sajid Javid, Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport and MP for Bromsgrove, has been confirmed as a keynote speaker at Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership’s forthcoming conference.
Over 200 delegates have already registered to attend this free event that will take place on the morning of Friday 10 October at the Chateau Impney in Droitwich Spa.
The Conference theme this year will be ‘World Class Worcestershire’ (#WorldClassWorcs) and the Secretary of State’s presentation will precede a special ‘on the couch’ discussion on the benefits that culture, media and sport bring to the economy that will be facilitated by BBC Midlands Today presenter, Mary Rhodes.
The discussion will include contributions from Charlie Bethel of the British Wheelchair Basketball Association, Ben Humphrey of Worcestershire Repertory Company, Ivan Knezovich, MD of West Midlands Safari Park, Mike Ashton for Destination Worcestershire, and David Leatherdale, Chief Executive at Worcestershire County Cricket Club.
The conference, which will also feature contributions from Jaguar Land Rover, Joy Global, UKTI and specially commissioned videos from overseas business representatives, aims to raise the profile of Worcestershire and encourage businesses to target international markets.
A number of interactive features will be incorporated, including live voting (sponsored by OGL Computers), a live Twitter feed (sponsored by Sanctuary Group) and a networking lunch (sponsored by Hewett Recruitment) . There will also be a number of exhibitors, including a First Great Western feature stand.
Peter Pawsey, Executive Chair at Worcestershire LEP, says: “We are confident that this year’s annual conference will be bigger and better than previous years’. Our speakers and presenters will provide really relevant and useful advice for Worcestershire businesses and encourage them to raise their sights towards global markets. We are hopeful too that the conference will help to establish Worcestershire as a world class destination for inward investment.”
