More than 3,000 sq ft of industrial space has been taken at The Brickyard, Cardiff in two deals brokered by property consultants JLL.
Units 1 and 2 have been let to the RSPCA Cardiff Branch, which plans to use the space as a volunteer, administration and recycling hub. The animal welfare charity has taken 2,109 sq ft on a new three year lease which will allow it to create a number of training and volunteering opportunities, as well as safe guard around eight existing jobs.
Unit 4, which totals 1,054 sq ft, has been taken by Auto Detailing Studio which specialises in car valeting and detailing. The firm has taken an initial 12 month lease following its move from Taffs Well.
The deals leave just two of the eight industrial units available to let, totalling 5,231 sq ft.
Heather Lawrence, senior surveyor at JLL, said: “The Brickyard is conveniently located just off Western Avenue, one of the major arterial routes through Cardiff, and is in a prime position for the city centre and M4 motorway.
“These two new deals signal an increase in confidence in the industrial market and we’re hopeful that this trend will continue to see the final units let.”
Sally Hyman, advisor to the RSPCA Cardiff Branch, commented: “This new hub will serve as the focal point for volunteers and the administration centre, as well as RSPCA Cardiff’s recycling initiative. We’re encouraging people to donate their old clothes and textiles, saving them from landfill and helping us to raise money.
“We chose The Brickyard for its excellent location and local amenities, which we hope will make it easier for people to recycle when they shop.”
Jon Clemett, managing director at Auto Detailing Studio, continued: “We chose The Brickyard mainly for its excellent location, but also because of the opportunities available in the Western Avenue area; we’re currently in talks with Tesco and so far the signs are looking positive. I am looking forward to establishing the business here and seeing clear growth over the next year.”
The Brickyard is an established industrial and trade counter location totalling almost 24,000 sq ft. Each unit has separate pedestrian access and WC facilities. Unit 7 totals 1,730 sq ft and Unit 8 totals 3,501 sq ft.
