Discount supermarket chain Aldi is to open a second distribution hub in Tamworth, after national property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) completed the deal for a 120,000 sq ft unit in just six weeks.
The company wanted to secure additional space in close proximity to its main distribution hub in Atherstone, north Warwickshire, and ask LSH to find suitable premises.
Ed Forrester, associate director of industrial and logistics agency at LSH in Birmingham, worked with Jones Lang LaSalle, which represented the landlord Industrial Property Investment Fund, to complete the urgent request so that Aldi could move to Centurion 120, Centurion Park, Tamworth.
Aldi has agreed a six-year lease with a break at three years for the premises, which is close to the A5 and junction 10 of the M42. The premises comprises 113,718 sq ft of warehouse and 5,475 sq ft of offices. It has eaves of 74ft, 19 dock doors, four-level access doors and space for 23 HGVs.
“Properties of this size and calibre are few and far between in the area, so we were very keen to agree terms with the landlords to secure Centurion 120 for Aldi,” said Ed. “Negotiations with the landlord’s agent went very smoothly so were able to complete the transaction quickly and to everyone’s satisfaction.”
Centurion Park is close to the A5 and junction 10 of the M42. Other companies on the park include Home Retail Group, Norbert Dentressangle, and AAH Pharmaceuticals.
