Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP has appointed John Bryant to head up its M&A offering as appetite for deals continues to grow in the East Midlands.
John’s high profile appointment follows ten years at PKF Cooper Parry, where he was an M&A partner advising clients on corporate finance transactions across the East Midlands. Prior to that, John was a banker and spent ten years in the Natwest/RBS Corporate Structured Finance team.
His appointment demonstrates the significant investment programme being undertaken by BDO, which has offices in Nottingham, Leicester and Lincoln, as the firm looks to expand both its advisory and compliance based services.
Earlier this year saw the arrival of Vinny Patel to lead the Transaction Services offering at BDO. Partner Chris Bond, a specialist in corporate M&A tax, also joined the East Midlands team in November 2013. All work closely with Partner Rick Wilson, a respected adviser to many well-known corporates in the region. The team has advised on six transactions so far this year and have a strong deal pipeline looking forward.
Commenting on his appointment, John said: “BDO is a great brand with huge resonance and history here in the East Midlands region. The firm is continuing its investment programme and I am very excited to be part of that.
“As the market continues to recover and local companies set their sights on succession planning and acquisitive growth, it’s an exciting time at BDO as we look to service our growing pipeline and build on our strong local team over the forthcoming period.”
Gareth Singleton, partner and head of BDO LLP, said: “As a firm we’re keen to attract and retain the very best talent and continue to service the growing demand from our client and target base as they look to capitalise on a more buoyant economy. Local companies want quality advisers on their doorstep; people that understand their business and have the expertise to guide them through the next stage of growth in both domestic and international markets. John brings exactly that and I look forward to seeing him grow our corporate finance team further.”
John specialises in advising mid-market corporates, owner managed businesses and private equity investors on a wide range of domestic and international transactions.
BDO’s international network has more than 1250 offices across 147 countries. John and the team will utilise this global reach to ensure local businesses with international ambitions get access to opportunities from around the world.
