Peveril Securities has submitted a planning application to Gloucester City Council for the second phase of development at Centre Severn, an established and successful leisure destination adjacent to Barnwood Fields Business Park on the A40 between Gloucester and Cheltenham.
The scheme, which offers immediate access to junctions 11A and 12 of the M5 motorway, currently offers a fitness centre, a ten pin bowling centre, a hotel and a pub, together with generous parking provision.
Phase 2 comprises a mix of employment and commercial uses of 300,000 sq ft on a 14 acre highly visible site, ideally positioned for access to the motorway network and Gloucester and Cheltenham markets. The new development will include the introduction of a new traffic light junction on the A40.
Adrian Rowley, partner at property consultancy Alder King which is acting for Peveril with Knight Frank, said: “Gloucestershire has a strong requirement for new premium locations as stock levels have dropped in recent years whilst demand has risen as the economy improves.
“If successful at planning, this development offers a natural extension to an already flourishing business location and offers future occupiers the opportunity for their staff to enjoy the range of established leisure facilities.”
Peveril has acquired the Phase 2 site from Unilever subject to securing planning consent. The sale and development of the site will not affect the running of Unilever’s existing operation.
