A Midlands company which supplies plastic sheet piling for flood defences and to stabilise motorway embankments has gained more space to aid its growth.
Aldridge Piling Equipment (Manufacturing) Ltd has taken on a 989 sq ft unit at Zone 3, Burntwood Business Park, which is owned and managed by London and Cambridge Properties Ltd (LCP).
Managing director David Coley said it needed additional space to carry stock and a unit with its own sizeable compound.
“Burntwood Business Park is a well laid out site and can handle deliveries of articulated lorries which can go straight into our yard. The new unit will enable us to carry stock to satisfy customers who want smaller orders,” he explained.
The company was formed four years ago as a sister company to the long-established Aldridge Piling Equipment (Hire) Ltd in Norton Canes. In the quarter from September it has matched the previous year’s turnover.
The business imports plastic sheet piling used for instance in flood defences and for retaining walls. It supplies clients including the Environment Agency and contractors working on motorways to shore up embankments.
David said: “Our plastic sheet piling has been used successfully on substantial projects which have generated further business. The plastic is made from recycled materials and is a better alternative to timber because it does not rust or rot and is lighter and easier to handle.
“Our sister company provides the piling equipment to drive it into the ground while we sell the plastic sheets. We are now targeting the rail sector after working well with other industries as we can see an opportunity for its use on railway embankments, water control on underground lines and erosion control around bridges.”
Burntwood Business Park is situated between Cannock and Lichfield on the A5190, close to Chasewater Country Park. Junction T6 of the M6 Toll and the A5 trunk road are both approximately one and a half miles away. Properties from 1,570 sq ft to 72,843 sq ft are available.
