Cardiff Gate International Business Park has announced the first companies to benefit from its status as the first business park in Wales to offer Superfast Broadband.
The new infrastructure has been installed by Spectrum Internet, Wales’ largest independent Internet Service Provider, and will give the 70 plus businesses based at Cardiff Gate International Business Park access to fibre based broadband delivering speeds up to 100Mbps, and affordable leased line services of 100Mbps and 1Gbps.
Among the first to get switched on was independent financial advisers Maskell Moss & Co Ltd. According to Helen Burridge, Office Manager, the company is now “able to operate much more efficiently as a business. At long last, we have fast and reliable internet that doesn’t cost the earth.”
As part of the Super Connected Cardiff initiative, a UK government-backed scheme that is being rolled out by Cardiff Council, businesses were encouraged to register interest in a voucher scheme that could help them to claim back 100% of the connection cost of upgrading.
Tony Fletcher, Managing Director, Cardiff Gate International Business Park commented: “At Cardiff Gate, we are passionate about providing our tenants and visitors with the highest quality of service. Following the universal demand by businesses for faster internet, this will no doubt boost our existing businesses but also encourage those struggling with poor internet to reflect on their current working conditions.”
Giles Phelps, Managing Director of Spectrum Internet said “We are delighted to be helping businesses based at Cardiff Gate International Business Park to access Superfast Broadband. Bandwidth demand from businesses is soaring and with internet traffic expected to triple by 2016, the need for superfast speeds has never been greater. The new service at Cardiff Gate not only delivers the high speed connectivity that businesses need but, at prices from £50 per month, it’s now also affordable”.
The Super Connected Cities scheme provides Small and Medium sized enterprises (SMEs) with free broadband connection vouchers up to the value of £3000, the voucher covers the cost of the connection and installation of infrastructure but not recurring revenue charges.
