One of the country’s leading suppliers of bedroom furniture and beds has taken on more space at its Black Country headquarters to cope with its expansion plans.
Serene Furnishings, based on The Hill Top Estate, West Bromwich, has grown significantly year on year since it launched in 2005.
Now, as the family-run business plans its latest push for growth, it has taken on an additional 35,300 sq ft after asking London & Cambridge Properties, which owns and manages the estate, to find it extra space to accommodate a new range of products that it is planning to launch.
The company now occupies 158,331 sq ft and is now LCP’s biggest tenant on the fully let estate.
Nadirah Habib, director, who runs the firm with husband Tasleem Tasab, said they were now looking to take on up to four new members of staff to add to the 40 that already work in the business, which supplies more than 700 retailers across the UK.
The extra space is needed to accommodate a new range of products that they plan to unveil at the flagship Interiors UK exhibition at the NEC in January 2015, she said.
It plans to move into the new unit in August, giving it time to prepare for the new stock.
“We’ve had to take on bigger units as the company has grown and this new range that we are going to stock means we need even more space,” she said.
“We’ve been at Hill Top since 2008 and have moved to different warehouses on the estate whenever we have needed it, which is great because LCP has been able to accommodate us.”
Andrew Preston, industrial property manager of LCP, who negotiated the move, said: “We’re pleased to help Serene Furnishings, which has been a tenant of ours for six years. They were keen to stay on the Hill Top estate because it is a convenient location for the business and we were able to negotiate terms for the new space quickly.”
