Stratford-upon-Avon law firm Lodders Solicitors has appointed a new equity partner in recognition of his contribution to the firm’s growth.
Paul Mourton has been promoted at the age of 36, one of the youngest of eight equity partners ever appointed by the firm.
Lodders saw double digit growth in its latest financial year to July 2014.
Senior partner Martin Green, who took over the role from David Lodder on July 1, said the decision to admit Paul to equity partner status was taken in recognition of the volume and quality of work he had brought into the firm.
“Paul’s promotion is proof positive that Lodders is a firm that recognises both talent and results,” he said.
Paul Mourton said his promotion from July 1 sent out a strong message to ambitious lawyers looking to build a major role for themselves in one of the region’s most established law firms.
“Lodders may trace its roots back over 225 years, but it is a firm where young talent can thrive, whether that be promotion to associate or partner.
“The firm is very much a meritocracy, and I feel honoured to have been recognised in this way by my fellow partners,” he said.
Paul Mourton joined Lodders in 2008 as an associate from a Cheltenham law firm and quickly rose through the ranks, being promoted to partner in 2011.
In September 2013, he and partner Robin Beckley opened the Cheltenham office and the operation has continued to grow with commercial property specialist Constantine Berry joining in January this year.
“We are clearly becoming the law firm of choice for talented solicitors who are committed to the same levels of service and expertise as we demonstrate on a daily basis.
“We have plans to grow the team in Cheltenham in all our service areas and our door is very much open,” he said.
