A Mid Wales broadband provider has announced plans to expand its operations with a redevelopment of its headquarters in Welshpool.
Established in 2009, Xwavia has increased the size of its site in Glansevern Hall to 2,500 sq ft and is set to create 10 new jobs following the expansion.
The company’s growth plans will see additional improvements to its infrastructure, expanding the capacity and reach of its network, increasing broadband speeds for residents and businesses across Wales.
The internet service provider is dedicated to supplying superfast broadband to hard-to-reach areas in Wales, allowing even the most remote parts of the country to access the internet with a high-speed broadband connection.
Since recently securing a £1.2 million investment from Finance Wales, the company has improved the speed and reach of its network by harnessing microwave, fibre-optic, wireless and copper broadband technologies.
The redevelopment will lead to an additional 10 jobs being created, including new positions in the company’s engineering, customer services and sales departments.
In partnership with the Welsh Government’s Access Broadband Cymru (ABC) Scheme, Xwavia will help families and businesses gain access to superfast broadband, typically at speeds between 10-100 megabytes per second (Mbps).
Mike Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Xwavia, said:
“We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our office in Welshpool, creating sustainable jobs in the area. Not only will the expansion help us connect people in hard-to-reach areas, but will also help the Welsh economy as businesses improve productivity, efficiency and competitiveness with the power of high-speed, reliable broadband.
“Many areas in Wales have suffered with poor broadband speeds for too long. Our expansion will help us to reach even more people in Wales and help them enjoy the benefits of superfast broadband.”
