Ten partners at South Coast accountancy firm Princecroft Willis (PcW) are marking its centenary by volunteering for community or charity work.
Good causes ranging from hospices through to sports clubs are benefiting from their unpaid expertise.
The latest to give his services free of charge is VAT specialist Simon Anslow.
He volunteered to work for ten hours in the kitchen at the YMCA’s restaurant in Westover Road, Bournemouth.
The YMCA helps and supports people of all ages, origins and faiths, especially those who are young and who are needy or vulnerable in some way.
Simon acted as catering assistant to head chef Kevin Lee and admitted the experience had been quite a revelation.
He said: “It’s been an eye-opener to see just how much work goes into running a restaurant. You have to have skills other than catering ones, such as counselling and being a friend.
“From the other side you don’t always appreciate it – everyone should have a go and see for themselves.”
Kevin said Simon’s assistance had been greatly appreciated.
“It’s been really beneficial for us having Simon here because the YMCA relies on volunteers.
“It’s useful for people of all walks of life to get an insight into what we do. We have 63 vulnerable adults here so there is a lot more to the work than you might expect,” added Kevin.
Other community/charity work being undertaken by PcW’s partners include a 100-mile walk by Managing Partner Mark Johns, in aid of Oakhaven Hospice, and several marathon runs for charity by Julian Smith, Private Client Services Partner.
Good causes and groups being helped by PcW’s partners include the Lewis-Manning Hospice, Citizens Advice, SWOP Chestnut and Cherry Tree Nurseries, Young Enterprise, Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy and Bournemouth Sports Club.
Princecroft Willis has offices in Poole and New Milton and offers a full range of accounting services from audit to taxation.
Locally based, independent and with strong community roots, the firm has ten partners and more than 100 team members.
