An innovative Rugby logistics company is marking its fifth birthday by adding to its workforce and celebrating winning a business award.
Exact Logistics on the Dunchurch Trading Estate in London Road has appointed Olivia Godfrey as European Sales Negotiator.
The 25-year-old, who lives in Warwick, has joined the company after joint-owners Adam and Karen Shuter were presented with the Small Business of the Year trophy at the Pride of Rugby Awards, organised by Rugby FM.
Olivia has moved to Exact Logistics from her role as account freight manager at the Birmingham office of global transportation and logistics company Kuehne + Nagel.
Her role is to create bespoke solutions for local companies sending freight to Europe, offering a single point of contact from quotation through to delivery.
The former student of Trinity Catholic School in Leamington increases the company’s workforce to ten.
Karen Shuter, sales director at Exact Logistics, said: “Olivia has great expertise in European logistics and she will be making the process from providing quotes to the goods arriving even more seamless.
“From our customers’ perspective, it is much easier to have one point of contact who will manage and control the whole process.
“Olivia has an extensive network of suppliers which means she will ensure the right solution for every job as we continue to build on our success of the last five years.
“When we set-up the business we knew we would be different because of our European expertise and that proved really important in the midst of the recession.
“Fifty per cent of our turnover now comes from our German services. We are also building expertise in countries such as France, Holland, Spain and the Czech Republic.
“We have achieved more than we thought we would mainly because of our success in exporting.”
Karen said winning the title of Small Business of the Year in the Pride of Rugby Awards was a great way to mark their fifth birthday.
She said: “We were thrilled to win the award but, as we said in our acceptance speech, we are supported by a fantastic team, suppliers and customers. Adam and I may be the face of the business but it is thanks to their help along with support from agencies such as Growth Accelerator and UKTI that we are growing.
“My advice to anyone considering setting-up a business is to ask for help and act on it. I have always done that because there are many organisations that will provide advice as well as information on grants to apply for.
“We started Exact Logistics with three members of staff and now with Olivia’s appointment we have ten.”
