Lincoln-based Castle Square Developments has obtained planning consent to extend a major retail centre on Lincoln’s premier Tritton Road.
Today Chartered Surveyor Banks Long & Co, which represents Castle Square Developments, said consent had been secured for a new 12,000 sq ft unit at the Valentine Retail Park South, off the city’s major out-of-town shopping destination.
This news is seen as a positive reflection of increasing activity in the marketplace, which has already seen a degree of recent optimism.
Castle Square Developments Director John Lockwood said: “We were delighted to be able to secure some additional space at Valentine Park South. We are confident that we will be able to generate some strong early interest in the unit, considering
the strength of this location and the past success we have enjoyed with both Valentine Park developments.”
Valentine Park South is already home to The Range and Wren Living and is located next to the very successful Valentine Retail Park, which provides large store formats for Next, TK Maxx and Asda Living.
The new unit has been granted planning consent for 8,000 sq ft of ground floor space, which could be increased to 12,000 sq-ft with the installation of a mezzanine floor, if required.
Banks Long & Co Surveyor Tom Strawson said: “This development is great news. We feel that the timing of obtaining the consent is appropriate, as there are certainly signs to suggest that the market has turned a corner.
“There seems to be a great degree of buoyancy and a much more positive outlook from retailers themselves. Lincoln has recently attracted more national names to the city. These include Go Outdoor, Homesense and Downtown.
“We are already in discussion with a number of high profile operators and hope to be able to make an exciting announcement in the near future.”
