National design and built consultant, Saracen Interiors, with headquarters in Aldershot, has won a prestigious AIS (Association of Interior Specialists) award for its refurbishment of Royalty House, the old Hertfordshire Primary Care Trust building on King Street, Watford. Work on the commercial project was completed last year on behalf of client, Aspect Property Group.
The industry gold award, handed over at the AIS President’s Lunch at the Dorchester Hotel, was presented for the high quality of the interior fit out expert’s work which was identified by the judges as having increased the value of the space at Royalty House, along with the efficiency of the building.
Covering four floors of Grade A office accommodation, refurbished to the highest specification, completed work included an entrance complemented by Portland stone, with revolving doors and a glass balustrade stairwell. The mechanical and electrical package has been designed so that the building’s services are operated at their most efficient, reducing energy bills by up to 50 per cent.
Joint managing director of Saracen Interiors, Michael Page is pleased to receive the award: “This was a memorable project for us, situated in a prime location, which involved a lot of skill and careful planning. It gave us the opportunity to exercise our role as a design and build consultant, giving us the scope to deliver work that was compatible with comfort, cost-efficiency and sustainability and which met with the highest standards. We’re delighted that it has resulted in this level of recognition.”
