A major shake-up of the fiercely competitive energy market is expected this month when Yü Energy officially opens its £2m new offices in Nottingham.
The company, which will be creating over 60 new jobs at its state-of-the-art headquarters at Nottingham Business Park near Junction 26 of the M1, will be providing energy initially to the business sector – promising huge savings compared to the ‘Big Six’ suppliers.
A champagne and canapé launch event, attended by the Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Cllr Ian Malcom and representatives from the business community across the city, will be held on Thursday, June 12 at 5pm.
Yü Energy is the brainchild of Midlands based entrepreneur Bobby Kalar. Having sold his previous company he was looking for his next challenge.
After realising that the ‘Big Six’ used unnecessary obstacles and complex contract agreements to confuse customers and in many cases charge them more than what customers were actually using, he made the decision to start supplying gas and electricity direct, establishing Yü Energy as a company that provided one product at one rate, for one year.
Investing heavily to win Ofgem accreditation, the company is one of only a handful of independent suppliers in the UK.
Mr Kalar added; “At Yü Energy we have worked hard with a range of software and billing designers to provide the most functional interactive customer support tool that will allow our staff to deal with any customer queries quickly and efficiently from a central port.”
Originally based in Chesterfield, the decision to move to Nottingham was an easy one. Mr Kalar explained: “Nottingham is thriving. It has some great companies already and we knew that it would be the perfect place for Yü Energy to grow.
“The people of Nottingham are hard working and we have based our business model on hard work and great customer service. For me it was an obvious choice.”
Yü Energy aims to provide customers with extremely competitive energy rates as well as prioritising excellent customer service.
Its strap line “It’s all about Yü” demonstrates its commitment to ensuring customers are not treated as “just another number,” Mr Kalar added.
Yü Energy has already had hundreds of enquiries about jobs at the new site. The firm is looking for outbound sales advisors, customer service advisors and sales ledger assistants.
