South coast accountancy firm Princecroft Willis enlisted the help of client Sir Ben Ainslie to raise over £16,000 for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation.
In the latest of a series of charity events to mark its centenary, the firm hosted 120 of its clients and contacts at a dinner and auction at The Royal Motor Yacht Club in Sandbanks, Poole.
An impressive £16,665 was raised on the night and donations are still coming in, with the total expected to exceed £20,000.
Four times Olympic Gold medallist Sir Ben Ainslie was a special guest at the dinner with Richard Percy, CEO of the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation.
The Andrew Simpson Foundation was launched by Sir Ben Ainslie, Iain Percy OBE and Andrew Simpson’s widow Leah, following a training accident in May 2013.
It has already funded the Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.
Princecroft Willis Partner, Martin Aldridge, said: “Sir Ben Ainslie is a long-standing client of Princecroft Willis, and the South Coast has a strong sailing heritage, supporting many of our clients in the marine sector, so when we looked for a charity to benefit from our centenary dinner, the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation was an easy and very worthy choice.”
Richard Percy, CEO of the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation, said: “Princecroft Willis have consistently supported and guided the Foundation over the past year and to be selected as their chosen charity for the centenary dinner was a massive honour.”
