Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, the private/public sector body responsible for driving economic growth and jobs to the county, is looking for enthusiastic and experienced senior business people with a commitment to the county of Worcestershire to join its Boards.
A number of new members are required to serve a one, two or three year term of office. They will play a pivotal role in implementing the LEP’s Strategic Economic Plan and European Investment Fund Strategy for Worcestershire and in supporting work programmes that ensure objectives are delivered on time and outcomes achieved.
Peter Pawsey, Executive Chair of Worcestershire LEP, says: “Board members will join Worcestershire LEP at a critical time in its history. After three years of successful delivery, more power is being devolved from Government to the LEPs, placing them at the heart of the Government’s strategy for growth.
“Anyone who has experience at a director or chief executive level in a business organisation will be eligible to join the Board. We are particularly looking for people who have clear strategic vision, communication and leadership skills, organisational ability and networking experience. Women and ethnic minority groups are currently underrepresented on our Boards, so applications from these groups would be particularly well received.
“Although the positions are non-executive and unpaid, LEP Board membership provides an unparalleled opportunity to contribute to Worcestershire’s future economic prosperity and success. Our Strategic Economic Plan and European Investment Fund Strategy outline our five to ten year plan for jobs and growth in Worcestershire. Board members will be at the centre of ensuring that those plans become reality.”
LEP and Business Board meetings are each held approximately six times per year and members are expected to commit to at least one or two days per month to make their roles a success.
Interested parties are asked to complete an application process. Further information is available from: www.wlep.co.uk/news or by telephoning 01905 346180. The closing date for applications is Monday 16 June 2014.
