Sports and injury specialists, Physio 1st, which started in Stourbridge and now has 25 clinics, has chosen Nurton Developments’ Trigate House as its latest base to manage its growth.
The private physiotherapy practice founded in 2009 has rapidly expanded during the last three years to give UK wide access.
Now TriGate House will operate as its new headquarters and training academy, with staff relocating from the Black Country.
Peter Grinbergs, clinical director at Physio 1st said: “I started to expand Physio 1st in the recession so we’ve done pretty well to reach 25 clinics during difficult economic times. We train all our staff ourselves, hence the need for the training academy and whilst we’re quite happy with the size of the business at present, we would always still consider further opportunities. We see the elite sports performance market as a huge growth area for us and we intend to develop Birmingham as an elite, high performance centre.
“From a commercial perspective, TriGate offers a good route in and out of the Black Country for our staff who are now having to travel. It’s a very visible location and also a great stop off point for people commuting in and out of Birmingham to drop in and have a treatment.”
TriGate is a striking 73,000 sq ft blue and grey clad building positioned on a prominent corner position of the arterial Hagley Road West and Wolverhampton Road cross roads, just a short distance from the city centre.
Keith Simkins from Nurton Developments added: “Physio 1st is a great local success story and hopefully the sort of business we can grow with and accommodate to provide it with the facilities and capacity to develop and expand its business.
“It has been a good first quarter for TriGate, with three lettings. New and used office furniture supplier, ORS and world leading lifting manufacturer, Vaculex have both taken space.”
Nurton Developments refurbished TriGate in 2009, spending £1.5 million to offer city standard accommodation at more competitive rates. The building has Flexibase, a serviced office operator in place on two of the floors and is currently 75% occupied.
