Monmouthshire Building Society is showing the way forward for this year’s Three Peaks of Wales charity fund raising event in aid of St David’s Hospice Care.
The leading Welsh financial organisation is now encouraging others to follow in their footsteps and sign up for the challenge which takes place on Saturday, June 28.
The challenge, sponsored by Western Power Distribution(WPD), involves scaling three of Wales’ tallest peaks, Mount Snowdon, 1,085m(3,560ft), Cadair Idris, 893m (2,927 ft) and Pen-y-fan, 886m (2,907ft), all in a single day.
Monmouthshire Building Society Business Development Manager Dan Goulding, a regular walker and leader of the firm’s eight strong team, said: “We’ve been putting in some solid training ahead of the year’s challenge and are really looking forward to the day.”
Dan said: “I’d urge others thinking of taking part to do so. It’s a wonderful fun event and, if you’re a business or organisation entering a team, then it’s very good for team building.
“The Society, as one of Wales’ leading financial institutions, are keen to give back to the local communities in which we operate. St David’s Hospice Care is a natural choice to support since the charity carries out such a vital and worthwhile role in providing bespoke, individual care at the most difficult time in many people’s lives.
“With branches and agencies across the areas covered by St David’s Hospice Care, it felt a natural fit to support them. We’re all very excited about taking on the Three Peaks of Wales Challenge and we’re putting in as much preparation as possible beforehand so we can take in the wonderful scenery as much as possible on the day.”
The Three Peaks of Wales event sponsor Paul Business, WPD’s Corporate Communications Manager, said: “The excellent work of St David’s Hospice Care is very highly regarded and we are delighted to continue our association with the organisation by supporting the Three Peaks Challenge again this year.
“It’s a really worthwhile event which not only encourages people to enjoy the outdoors, but is brilliant for team building and great fun and all for such a great cause.”
Kris Broome, of St David’s Hospice Care, said: “We’re delighted that WPD are on board as sponsors again this year and that the Monmouthshire Building Society have dusted off their Welsh walking boots in readiness for the marvellous challenge ahead.”
