GEO Hallam & Sons and JLL acting on behalf of F&C Reit have completed a letting of offices within City Gate East to Scape System Build.
Scape are relocating from Pearl Assurance House on Friar Lane to refurbished open plan 7th floor offices of 5,500 sq ft within City Gate East. Scape carried out an extensive search of city and edge of city centre options and ultimately City Gate provided the preferred solution being able to satisfy their requirements on one floor within a centrally located building.
Scape System Build is wholly owned by Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire County, Derby City, Derbyshire County, Gateshead and Warwickshire County Council and began trading in April 2006. The company acts as a contracting authority and central purchasing body delivering procurement, design and consultation services for the public sector both in the East Midlands and across the UK which provides substantial client cost savings. The company currently has 500 live projects under construction across the country. Scape which currently employs more than 25 people in Nottingham, will re-locate from Pearl Assurance House in mid-summer this year and the re-location will provide important expansion space.
Mark Robinson, Scape’s Chief Executive explained the reasons for the move: “Scape has undergone dramatic and exciting growth over the last three years which has led to a tripling of its staffing level. Demand for Scape’s Products and Services have escalated rapidly as local authorities and wider public sector bodies with restricted budgets recognise how much money and time they can save by using our services. Despite our national reach operations, Scape takes pride in supporting the region it originated from and so remaining close to Nottingham City Centre was important to us when we began searching for new premises. Scape’s new location will also allow us to see the improvements being made across Wollaton and Derby Road on behalf of Nottingham City Council by the Canning Circus creative hub. Scape has supported this initiative with a £50,000 grant from the Scape Community Investment Fund at the end of 2013 and we cannot wait to see how thirty small and medium sized creative businesses in this area will thrive.”
James Hall from Geo Hallam & Sons who acted on behalf of the landlords, F&C Reit explained “This letting follows the speculative refurbishment of City Gate by the Landlords F&C Reit which has repositioned the building within the market. City Gate is a landmark building one of few in Nottingham which provides large floor plate offices and this letting to Scape follows the letting in March of 13,000 sq ft to Baker Tilly. Following these recent lettings F&C Reit are now proposing to carry out refurbishment to City Gate West.”
James Keeton of JLL added “F&C’s confidence in speculatively refurbishing the space is testament to the activity at City Gate in 2014 and demonstrates the continued demand that exists in the Nottingham market for well positioned good quality product.”
Simon Mcintosh of F&C Reit added “we are delighted to welcome Scape to City Gate and this letting is a direct result of our strategy to undertake speculative refurbishment of City Gate which is now paying dividends with this letting and the earlier letting to Baker Tilly which have both added to City Gate’s blue chip tenant mix.”
