Five employees at engineering group Trant have received 25-year awards in what is regarded as one of the highest staff retention rates of its kind in industry.
They follow in the footsteps of 103 recipients since the awards were first introduced in 1988, with a further 16 having recorded 40 years each.
Trant, headquartered in Southampton, employs 700 people and works on a range of infrastructure projects in the UK, Falkland Islands, Channel Islands and the mid-Atlantic Ascension Island.
Founded in 1958 by the late Phil Trant, the award-winning independent now has a record number of long-term framework contracts, totalling £120m per annum.
Patrick Trant, Chairman, thanked everyone at the firm, saying: “Trant is about the staff – staff with skills, commitment and understanding, staff who routinely achieve excellence in disciplines which are increasingly complex and subject to the strictest compliance cultures.
“It is the commitment that everyone has got to the business that I feel really proud of and I hold up our staff retention record; it is in the Premiership for southern England.”
The 25-year awards were presented by Patrick to John Calnan, Frank Collett, Les Headley, Caroline Upton and Alan Wells.
Poignantly, Alan’s wife Veronica collected his award posthumously, the ex-Army man having passed away last June following illness.
Attended by more than 100 people, the awards and dinner dance evening was held at the Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel, Chilworth, near Southampton.
The multi-disciplinary contractor carries out a diverse range of projects in sectors which help drive the British economy – petrochemical, pharmaceutical, power & transmission, civil engineering and mechanical & electrical engineering.
Clients include National Grid, Wessex Water and the Ministry of Defence.
