Innes England has promoted director of building consultancy Mike Thorne to equity director.
The Midlands property consultancy has appointed Mike to the role in response to the continued growth and success of its building consultancy division.
With over 15 years of experience in building surveying, Mike brings a wealth of public and private sector experience and expertise.
Prior to joining Innes England, Mike gained valuable experience in many project and professional based building surveying roles.
He worked both regionally and nationally, with specific expertise in technical due diligence, contract administration, dilapidations, pre-acquisition and building surveys, and party wall advice.
His most recent previous experience was gained at an international management and construction consultancy.
Innes England’s building consultancy team has been involved in a diverse range of projects across the East Midlands since it was established.
The team worked with Nottingham success story TDX to project manage its relocation to the award-winning Pod development in the city centre. The team also provided dilapidations advice and project management services on its former office space to minimise outgoing liability.
The team has also worked with The University of Nottingham on the design and project management of a new gas fermentation laboratory – the £200,000 facility is the only one of its type in the country.
Most recently, the team was also employed to provide technical and project cost support to secure a deal for the new PKF Cooper Parry ‘super office’ at Castle Donington and was retained to provide contract administration and monitoring services for the refurbishment works to ensure compliance with specification, relevant legislation, programme and quality standards.
Mike said on his promotion: “I’m delighted with this opportunity. The building consultancy team is now in its fourth year and has grown considerably since its inception with a large portfolio of clients.
“I am focused on driving the development of the building consultancy services at Innes England working with an established client base. I am proud of the results we have achieved for our clients and, using our unique position of being the only property consultancy to have offices in Nottingham, Derby and Leicester, I am keen to develop the enviable reputation the firm has to secure further work in the East Midlands.
“Working with the Innes England board, I want to drive this area of the business forward and continue to provide strategic and focused advice and deliver savings, increased efficiencies and favourable conclusions for our clients.”
Robert Hartley, managing director at Innes England, said: “Mike has earned a strong reputation in the building consultancy sector. His wealth of experience is already an asset to the business and the advice we provide to our clients in this area.
“This promotion recognises not just the contribution and hard work of Mike and his team but the strategic importance of these services to the business and our clients. We are looking forward to supporting Mike as he continues to grow the department.”
The building consultancy team at Innes England acts for a number of regional and blue chip clients including PKF Cooper Parry, TDX Group, The Co-operative Group, Arriva, Lloyds, Pendragon, and The Nottingham .
