Google-backed US startup company Homejoy has signed a lease to open its European headquarters in London at 33-34 Alfred Place, WC1, as part of its expanding international operations.
Commercial property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) acted on behalf of the Silicon Valley startup.
Homejoy is an online platform designed for booking house cleaners and was launched in July 2012 in California by siblings Adora and Aaron Cheung. Homejoy’s new 2,500 sq ft London office will open with 10 staff initially, but is expected to grow to 20 by the end of the year. Google Ventures and other venture capitalists backed Homejoy with a $38m investment in 2013.
Toby Chapman, Central London Office Agent at LSH, said: “Homejoy’s location in Fitzrovia is within walking distance of the new Google, Facebook and LinkedIn offices, making it the latest global TMT company to find a home in this area of Central London.
“Homejoy is growing quickly and chose to open its European headquarters in London, due its tech-savy population and growing talent pool.”
