Building works have begun on a new office development in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.
National commercial property consultancy, Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH), is appointed alongside Duncan Bailey Kennedy by The Copus Partnership to market the 10,000 sq ft Riverside Barns scheme, a brand new development on the riverside one mile from Henley town centre.
The Riverside Barns scheme, part of Remenham Farm, is being developed by The Copas Partnership, a family-run business based in Cookham and founded by Tom Copas and now managed by his three daughters and son. The Riverside Barns is the latest addition to the Copas family’s commercial property portfolio and they are working with local architects, JSA, from design through to build completion. Farr and Roberts is the appointed contractor, and with works now underway the team anticipate a completion of summer 2012.
James Smith, Director of JSA Architects of Maidenhead, added: “This is another exciting project for the Copas family, for whom we have been architects for 25 years. We have been fortunate to design many projects, including: the Courtyard Barns office development at Cookham Dean, which was opened by Sir Steve Redgrave; the new offices for the family business at Kings Coppice Farm in Cookham; and the Copas Lych Gate at St John the Baptist Church in Cookham, which won a Windsor & Maidenhead Design Award. The conversion of the barns at Remenham will undoubtedly be a significant addition to their property portfolio.”
Remenham Farm has a long association with rowing and is located on the Henley Royal Regatta course. The Barns are to be redeveloped to deliver a brand new scheme of premium quality, courtyard style offices with uninterrupted views of the river on this iconic stretch of the Thames. They will retain many of the property’s original features, while also benefiting from air conditioning and ample on-site parking.
Mark Harris, Associate Director in LSH’s Maidenhead office, concluded: “This is significant news for Henley’s office market which marks much improved commercial confidence from the landlord in committing to the development of a new scheme. Its proximity to the M4, M40 and A404, as well as the rural location and traditional style of the redeveloped Barns, make Henley an attractive proposition for occupiers looking to move from larger office centres in the Thames Valley.”
