DTZ Manchester’s industrial and logistics team has been appointed to dispose of Johnson Controls facility at Halewood in Speke, Liverpool.
Johnson Controls’ production facility is one of five modern warehouses that provide parts for the production of the new ‘Evoke’ which is manufactured at the adjacent Jaguar Land Rover manufacturing facility. The premises are prominently located at Boulevard Industrial Park in Speke, where JCI produce the new car seats for the production of the Evoke. JLR produce 180,000 Freelanders & Evokes at Jaguar Land Rovers manufacturing plant.
Johnson Controls is a global leader in automotive seating, supporting all major automakers in the differentiation of their vehicles through their products, technologies and advanced manufacturing capabilities – from single components to complete interiors. With their global capability they supply more than 50 million cars per year.
The Halewood facility supplies Jaguar Land Rover with the seating and interiors for the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Freelander models at a current volume of 150,000 + vehicles per annum.
The facility has been brought to the market as JCI has taken a new 150,000 sq ft production facility at Estuary Business Park where occupation will take place in May this year. The premises offer modern warehousing and offices with a cross dock facility.
Phil Morley, Associate Director at DTZ, said: “We have a close relationship with Johnson Controls and after providing some initial advice on their new facility for their relocation we were pleased to be appointed to dispose of their existing unit which will become surplus to requirements. The existing facility provides a fantastic opportunity for an occupier to acquire a unit with a high specification in a prime location which has excellent access to the M57, M62 and M56. The facility will be of interest to many occupiers and we have already undertaken a number of viewings with companies who are showing serious interest.
“Market conditions are improving for good quality modern units especially given the lack of new build development. There is very little quality warehousing available in Liverpool at present and this will hopefully generate interest.”
Boulevard Industry Park is the main supplier Park to JLR who deliver ‘Just In Time’ products to the JLR Plant. Other occupiers that are located adjacent are DHL, IAC, Decoma and pharmaceutical giants Medimmune and Novartis.
Speke is located at the end of the M57 in south Liverpool on Speke Boulevard and forms part of south Liverpool’s main employment area which, at over 1,200 acres, is one of the largest employment areas in the north west. In recent years, substantial investment has changed the whole character of the area, with new industrial schemes, hotels, Dobbies. Current occupiers in Speke also include Littlewoods, ADM Cocoa, B & M Bargains RDC and Prinovis.
