An experienced director who started his career at a truck company has returned after 16 years to drive forward a newly launched service which includes cars and vans.
Mark Barton has been appointed used asset and disposal director, in charge of pre-owned vehicle sales, at Kent-based MC Group’s well-established MC Rental Ltd division.
The expanding company is selling cars, vans and 4x4s in the new venture as well as high-specification heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) for the motoring public and trade.
Mark is coming full circle as he first worked at the company in the 1980s when he rose through the ranks to director level before leaving in 1998.
Mark, who is 51, said: “It made complete sense to come home to MC Group. I know the company and its history well, although it has changed and expanded a lot.
“I have come full-circle and returned at an exciting time as the company continues to expand at pace. That we are selling pre-owned cars, vans and 4x4s as well as trucks shows that there is a lot more to MC Rental these days.”
He added: “I’m looking forward to playing a major part in its continued success.”
The new service, based on a prominent forecourt at the MC Rental depot at Larkfield, near Aylesford, Kent, will sell nationwide.
Mark started his career as a technician for HGVs in 1982 before rising through the ranks at MC Group to become a director.
He left in 1998 when he was included as an asset in the sale of its former rental division to Volvo-owned BRS where he became sales and marketing director.
In 2009 Mark joined the Euroway Group where he became managing director of its rental service.
MC Group managing director Simon Dawson said: “Our new service, launched after enquiries from customers who want the reassurance of the MC pedigree, strongly complements our existing divisions.
“Mark’s return means we can launch the service with great confidence to meet the needs of companies and individuals locally, regionally and nationally.”
The new service launch comes hot on the heels of notable expansion earlier this year when MC Rentals’ sister company, MC Truck and Bus, launched a MOT bay at its Maidstone site for vehicles of all sizes for the trade and motoring public.
