Construction has commenced on Glenmore Business Park on the Westmead Industrial
Estate in Swindon. This can be seen as a very positive step in the commercial property
marketplace as it is the first speculative development in the town of its nature to take place
since the economic downturn.
The first phase will comprise 13 units ranging in size from 969 sq ft to 1,604 sq ft with larger units available through combination.
The developers, Glenmore, specialise in small unit schemes and have an excellent track
record throughout the UK. They offer the ability for businesses to purchase a facility.
Glenmore have previously developed successfully in Swindon, having completed 16 units at
Rivermead. The first phase is due for completion in June this year. Purchase prices start
from £97,500, plus VAT.
Construction work has commenced on site and the frame and cladding is already in place.
The scheme will comprise a further two phases of units to be built at a later stage and on an adjoining site there is planning consent for a larger 35,000 sq ft warehouse facility and a
separate office facility.
The site formerly housed a former coldstore and warehouse facility which was demolished
late last year.
The agents commented “This is a very exciting moment in the commercial property
marketplace. We have been experiencing increasingly positive demand from the business
world and Glenmore’s decision to develop a small unit scheme of this nature is a reflection of our belief in the marketplace going forward.
Within the first phase we currently have three reservations, and with purchase prices starting at under £100,000, these offer excellent value to the small business.”
