An award-winning coffee chain has opened its first Worcestershire branch as part of its ongoing expansion plans into the Midlands.
Coffee #1 Limited has secured a 20-year lease for 12 High Street, Pershore, and is looking forward to opening its store in the market town in the spring.
The chain, which is owned by S.A.Brain & Company Ltd, opened its first shop in Cardiff in 2001 and now has 37 shops across South Wales, South West and the South coast.
It opened four shops in Gloucestershire and is looking to expand further into the Midlands in the near future, with Pershore attracting the attention of the brand, which sells handcrafted, ethical coffee, freshly squeezed fruit juices, tea, sandwiches, and cakes.
The three-storey premises, which was marketed by Worcestershire-based commercial agents Halls Wilkins Commercial, is a 2,271 sq ft retail property in a prominent position on High Street. It is located opposite Tesco Express, is close to Number Eight Community Art Centre, and is just a short walk from free public car parking in Broad Street.
Gareth Johns, head of estates and acquisitions at Cardiff-based S.A.Brain & Company Ltd, said after actively searching for suitable properties in the area, it decided that the double-fronted, characterful property was ideal for ones of its coffee shops.
The company plans to transform the ground floor into a cosy, rustic coffee shop and the rear garden area will also be available to use when weather permits.
“This is a good location for us – it’s in the heart of a picturesque market town – and we’re very much looking forward to transforming the interior and opening the shop, thereby creating welcome local employment,” said Mr Johns.
“We’re looking to expand into this area of the Midlands and Pershore seemed to be perfect town for us to bring the Coffee #1 brand. The town has a number of independent shops and we fit perfectly into that.”
Charlotte Fullard, senior surveyor at Halls Wilkins Commercial, said: “We were very pleased to help Coffee #1 bring its brand to Pershore. It is a very good letting for the town with a good tenant covenant.
“By bringing strong retail outlets to the town, it will hopefully help the centre to thrive and keep customers there, rather than losing them to other shopping destinations such as Worcester and Cheltenham.”
Halls Wilkins Commercial provides specialist commercial property services to a wide range of clients throughout Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire and the wider Midlands.
