NORSACA is pleased to have appointed its first Trustee from the legal sector to strengthen its Board of Trustees.
Jamie Gordon is head of property at leading law firm Geldards. Based in the Nottingham office, he advises developers and landowners on complex, high value redevelopment schemes, public sector bodies on major brownfield regeneration projects and property investors on acquisitions and disposals. He also leads an award winning team who specialise in providing high volume property support for national utility industry clients. Jamie is a member of the Investment Property Forum.
Nottingham based NORSACA is the largest specialist autism charity in the East Midlands and was originally founded by a group of parents in 1968. From small beginnings, the charity now runs its own specialist school, residential and day centres plus specialist training for parents and professionals. It operates one of the very few autism-specific diagnostic and assessment centres in the whole country.
Last year NORSACA celebrated 45 years of supporting people with autism and their families. Autism is a life-long condition and affects around 1% of the population.
NORSACA provides a specialist day school for up to 94 children with autism between the ages of 3 and 19, all of whom are provided with their own individual learning pathway.
Keith Doble, Chair of NORSACA’s Board of Trusteees, said “It is a challenging time for NORSACA just as many other charities. Delivering maximum value for money whilst continuing to maintain the highest standards of care and support to our users is our primary objective her at NORSACA.
“We’re delighted to welcome Jamie to the Board and his skills will be a great addition to the team, particularly his expertise in property as we have an extensive portfolio of aging buildings.”
NORSACA offers a wide range of services designed to support people affected by autism, including family services, a specialist school, and outreach and supported living services, as well as residential and day services for young people and adults with autism. The charity is reaching out to the local community for donations and fundraising events to keep its vital services running.
Jamie explained “NORSACA is an amazing charity which offers invaluable support to families across the region.”
“Geldards supports a number of charities across the UK and it’s a real privilege for me to join NORSACA’s Board of Trustees. I hope that my legal expertise will add to the skills and experience of the current board members and help the charity continue its impressive growth.”
