A former manufacturing facility in Merthyr Tydfil has been sold to a Derbyshire based investment and development company.
The Ardagh Metals site has been acquired by Huntley Wood Investments Limited for an undisclosed price. DTZ acted on behalf of the Ardagh Group to negotiate the sale.
Built in the 1970s, the manufacturing facility which was used to produce aerosols comprises approximately 31,000 sq m on a total area of 8.5 ha.
DTZ’s Cardiff Industrial agency team provided strategic property advice and following an extensive marketing campaign, sold the site to Huntley Wood Investments who it is understood are already exploring a range of opportunities for the site.
Rob Ladd, Director, Industrial agency at DTZ in Cardiff, commented: “This was a complex sale as we needed to find a purchaser to coincide with Ardagh’s vacation from the facility to avoid costly empty rates charges. The task was made more challenging when a number of other competing manufacturing facilities were due to close and come to the market in the immediate vicinity.
He continued: “However, using DTZ’s regional network and close collaboration with Ardagh and the purchaser meant that the terms for the sale of the site were concluded in a timely manner that suited both parties’ timescales. “
