Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, which represents businesses employing more than 106,000 people, has launched a business survey to gauge opinion on what businesses in the city really think and need.
The survey, aimed at both Chamber members and non-members, will also assess the support services required and spotlight key issues where assistance may be needed in the future.
Richard Wright, executive director at Sheffield Chamber, said: “As the voice of business in Sheffield it is important to seek opinion. The Chamber is keen to work on the right issues and really fight the corner of business. As a business support organisation it is important we constantly analyse how we are performing and if we are meeting the needs of local companies.
“It is a long time since anybody has surveyed the businesses community in Sheffield properly and given them the chance to really make their views and needs known. This information will be massively useful in shaping both what we do and offer, but also how we represent them in an ever changing landscape.”
Key elements of the survey include questions around practical issues like start-up, growth and international trade support, but also the opportunity to flag-up specific issues which businesses need exposing to a wider audience.
The survey is available on the Chamber website www.scci.org.uk with responses required before April 25.
Mr Wright added: “The Chamber has moved forward significantly in recent years in a difficult economic climate. Membership has remained constant at more than 2,200 organisations representing 106,000 employees and we have been able to prove that membership gives real value for money.
“We have kept the survey as simple as we can. Individual responses will be treated confidentially. We are a private sector organisation and we think like the private sector. Our big objective is to act as the critical friend on behalf of the sector.”
