Clegg Constructionsays it is thrilled to be the latest new contract partner for empa (the East Midlands Property Alliance).
The Nottingham-based company has won a share of empa’s £140m minor works framework which covers the wider East Midlands. The contracts are split into sub-regions to enable a more locally focussed delivery team.
Clegg Construction’s contract will cover work valued from £350,000 to £2m delivered in Northamptonshire, Rutland and Peterborough.
The minor works contracts run for a period of four years, starting immediately, and are the last in a series of empa contracts awarded in early 2014.
The aim of empa, which is managed by Scape, is to improve the procurement and delivery of construction projects and property maintenance for public sector clients saving time and money for them and their council taxpayers.
David Knifton, business development manager at Clegg Construction, said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded this contract and to join our fellow empa partners to deliver high quality work to public sector clients.
“We have an excellent track record having completed a whole range of public sector projects and we look forward to working with empa to utilise this experience and expertise.”
The empa framework contracts cover work for clients on all types of public sector buildings including schools, colleges, universities, housing, NHS, care homes, leisure facilities, libraries and many more.
By using empa, clients benefit from a streamlined procurement process where lengthy and costly OJEU compliant tender exercises have already been completed on their behalf. This saves clients as much as 9% on their overall project costs.
There is also certainty through using empa that projects will be delivered on time and to budget; when statistics show only just over half of public sector construction projects are completed on budget and more than half finish late – which empa believes is unacceptable.
Head of empa Alan Coole said: “In the current economic climate it is vital that public sector bodies receive value for money, due to the financial constraints they are facing.
“By using empa, clients can rest assured that their projects will be completed on time, on budget and they will save money through our streamlined procurement process.
“Clegg Construction is the latest company to join the empa partnership. They put forward an excellent tender submission and I would like to congratulate them on their success,” Alan added.
The awarding of the minor works contracts follows previous recent awards for empa’s Provincial and two Intermediate frameworks.
