The White Company spreads its wings at Swan Valley

Luxury lifestyle retailer The White Company is relocating to a new warehousing and distribution centre in Northampton.

The company is moving from Brackmills Industrial Estate to larger premises at Aviva Investor’s Swan Valley Distribution Park due to continued business expansion.

It has taken 191,114 sq ft at Black Swan, on Cob Drive, on a 20-year lease, with a ten-year break.

Founded in 1994, The White Company specialises in supplying everyday luxuries for the home. It began life as a 12-page mail order brochure and today is one of the UK’s fastest growing multi-channel retailers, online and with more than 50 retail stores.

Phil Clarke, CFO for The White Company, said: “Officially opening later this year, The White Company has made a decision to relocate its existing premises within a five mile radius of its current location in order to protect the current distribution and contact centre teams and to demonstrate a real commitment to invest in our people in Northampton.”

Swan Valley is a high quality warehouse building comprising 154,603 sq ft of warehousing space and 31,474 sq ft of offices on a self contained site of 8.2 acres. The building is fully fitted.

Property consultants CBRE, along with joint agents Jones Lang LaSalle and North Rae Sanders, advised Aviva Investors on the letting.

Mike Green, head of UK industrial at Aviva Investors, said: “Swan Valley is one of Aviva Investors’ flagship distribution parks and we expected strong interest.in this unit and were pleased with the quick turnaround from when the unit was first put to the market.”

Richard Meering, senior director in the industrial agency at CBRE in Birmingham, said: “Swan Valley is regarded as one of the region’s best distribution locations, due to its position close to J15a of the M1 motorway, as well as its proximity to a number of major international air and sea ports.

“It also boasts an impressive list of tenants including major brands such as Carlsberg, Levi’s, Morrisons, Royal Mail, J Sainsbury and BMW, which The White Company can now be added to.”
