Flomatik Network Services has launched an engineering services division, creating up to 50 jobs at its new 35,000 sq ft facility in the West Midlands.
Acting on behalf of Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP), national commercial property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) secured the letting of the unit at Kingsbury Business Park, near Birmingham, on a 10-year lease. Harris Lamb are joint letting agents on the business park.
Flomatik Network Services specialises in realising next generation developments for the IT, telecommunications, TV and broadband industries.
Already well known for its expansive professional services, it is now expanding its engineering activities to provide end-to-end services to enable large, complex network implementation for mobile, wireless and fixed-line networks.
A member of the Teleste Group, the investment follows Teleste Corporation’s strategy to provide value-adding, end-to-end network services for the major European operators and suppliers in the cable and telecommunication segments.
The new division will provide warehousing, staging, testing, component supply, bespoke engineering, logistics and installation & commissioning, with a 24/7 network operations centre facility that is planned for mid 2014.
Kingsbury Business Park was selected by the company because it offers the appropriate blend of warehousing and staging space, a modern office environment, localized expansion capabilities and access to fast, efficient national logistics.
Initially, 25 personnel will be based at Kingsbury but this is forecast to rise to around 50 within 2014. Many of the staff were employees of a company that went into administration last year. These personnel bring a wealth of capability and experience, enabling the business to establish quickly, and to capitalise on the inherent knowledge, client familiarity and operating processes/systems.
Ben Allwright, managing director for Flomatik Network Services, said: “Flomatik is driven to become the premiere supplier of customer-focused, efficient and effective solutions that reduce project complexity and uncertainty and save our clients both time and money.
“Marrying our existing professional and managed services in design, planning, expert engineering and project management, with a range of turnkey engineering services, makes it possible for us to provide a unique capability for our customers. With some of the largest independent service providers exiting the UK market, this is also an exciting time and opportunity for the Teleste Corporation to expand its service division.”
Gemma Butler, graduate surveyor in LSH’s industrial and logistics team in Birmingham, said: “We are pleased to welcome Flomatik to one of the best-located modern estates in the West Midlands and feel that the deal achieved reflects the lack of good quality, industrial stock available in this area.”
Our client SWIP, in partnership with leading asset management company Centurion Properties, bought the estate in 2011, and has substantially improved the environment for its occupiers, enabling the landlord to see steady growth in the income stream.
“Following a high quality refurbishment of Unit 3, Flomatik has become another key occupier of the estate, joining the likes of Webasto, GKN and UK Mail and, with Unit 6 now under offer, this will fully let the estate once again.”
