South West-based food industry construction specialist, ProjectLink, has consolidated its expertise in the food sector with a multi-million pound scheme to expand the production capacity of seafood processor, Falfish, in Redruth, Cornwall.
ProjectLink, which is based in North Somerset, has completed extensions to Falfish’s dispatch and goods-in areas in a multi-million pound, two-phase construction project. The development will also see the creation of new office space for Falfish to accommodate the seafood company’s rapid expansion, as it continues to increase its customer base within the UK and overseas.
The first phase of the construction programme saw ProjectLink extend and redesign Falfish’s temperature-controlled dispatch area. A loading dock with recessed approach ramp was built on site to allow for fast, level loading access onto refrigerated despatch vehicles and continuation of the cold-chain.
Phase 1, an 18-month project, completed in January 2013 and the second phase then commenced to create similar improvements to the goods-in area. These extensions to the factory have also boosted Falfish’s need for more office space, which ProjectLink has designed and is now constructing on the first floor of the 4,850-square-foot Phase 2 extension.

Specialists in planning as well as design and construction, ProjectLink steered each phase of Falfish’s build programme through the planning process, successfully securing approvals for each application. ProjectLink then worked with Falfish to ensure that they would be able to safely continue processing seafood while the extensions were under construction.
