London-based HHR Properties has won planning consent for a £20m 41,000 sq ft food store scheme at Wimborne Road, Kinson, Dorset, on the outskirts of Bournemouth with Tesco as the operator and is looking for more supermarket led projects.
The scheme will comprise a 37,000 sq ft Tesco supermarket, service yard, three shop units totalling 4000 sq ft and [269] parking spaces. HHR Properties has assembled the site and obtained detailed planning consent for the project which will be developed for Tesco.
Demolition of the existing precinct which comprised 12 units, a house, pub and garage will start in January 2014 and construction of the new scheme is expected to be completed in December 2014.
Martin Burke a director of HHR Properties said: “The new scheme will replace a tired 1960s retail precinct with the smaller supermarket format that is becoming popular again in both town centres and suburban positions.”
“We are actively looking for more sites of this type because they are the choice of consumers who want a modern food offer with parking close to where they shop,” added Burke.
HHR has £15m of assets and additional joint venture partnerships where through active asset management, refurbishment and redevelopment situations it can add value. This includes a 25,000 sq ft retail and office investment in Hampton Hill, Middlesex, where there is almost an acre of land which has residential development potential and a retail and offices scheme in West Street, Epsom, Surrey with the possibility of conversion to residential units together with a convenience store.
Burke says: “We are looking for similar mixed use schemes and sites for food and convenience stores, residential conversions and for Care Homes.”
In addition HHR has 10 acres at Crediton near Exeter in Devon with consent for 100,000 sq ft of mixed employment uses where 3-acres is under contract with Mole Avon for a new headquarters and one acre has been developed for Marstons pubs.
