A pair of motorcycle enthusiasts have opened Stourbridge’s first dedicated motorcycle centre to meet the demand for servicing and MOTs facilities in the area.
Stourbridge Motorcycle Centre has secured a three-year lease on a 1,521 sq ft multi-purpose unit on The Stourbridge Estate, Mill Race Lane.
Owned and managed by West Midlands-based commercial property company London & Cambridge Properties (LCP), the estate is a popular location with other tenants including Kwick Fit, Plumbase, Dominos Pizza and Bodywise Health Club.
John Birchill and his business partner Mark Coyle have converted the unit into a garage providing servicing, repairs and MOTs for all makes of motorcycle, as well as a showroom containing new learner legal vehicles, spare parts, rider accessories and riding equipment.
The business, which has already created three job opportunities, is currently only open at the weekends. However, the service centre will be open full time from mid-March when the riding season commences, with plans to expand the team further.
John said: “As avid motorcyclists we noticed a lack of facilities in Stourbridge for riders, so we decided to fill the gap in the market and set up a reliable servicing centre ourselves. Our dedicated and experienced team of mechanics can carry out services and MOT motorcycles on site, meaning customers will no longer have to travel to other towns.
“The new premises is in a prime location, just half a mile from the town centre just off Stourbridge ring road, and provides easy access for customers from neighbouring towns such as Kingswinford, Dudley, Halesowen and Wolverhampton. Having already received a high level of enquires before we’ve even opened, we have high hopes for the future.”
Paula James, sales negotiator at LCP, said: “Stourbridge Motorcycle Centre is a welcome addition to what is already a busy estate, home to a mixture of industrial, trade and leisure businesses. The centre will be a great asset to the area and once the lease to Unit3sixty – a new indoor skate park – is in place, The Stourbridge Estate will be fully let.”
