Applus+ IDIADA UK, a leading automotive development and consultancy firm that specialises in providing independent brake testing services to the global automotive industry, is expanding into new headquarters on St Georges Way on the Bermuda Industrial Estate in Nuneaton.
Commercial property agents Reeves & Partners acted on behalf of Bower Group in the letting of the property and has assisted IDIADA with its move from the Dodwells Bridge Industrial Estate in Hinckley.
Ten employees will now be based at the 16,043 sq ft site, which will be used to expand the firm’s vehicle design and development services.
Applus IDIADA UK provides brake-testing services in the areas of product development, type approval, self-certification, conformity of production, and noise vibration and harshness (NVH) investigation.
Roy Burgess, project manager at Applus IDIADA UK, said the Nuneaton site is well suited to meet the needs of the firm’s continued expansion.
“Our move into larger office and industrial premises in Nuneaton will allow us to expand both our office and shop floor operations as well as enabling us to invest in new machinery.
“Within the last 18 months we have doubled our workforce and we will have 10 employees based at the site. In the next couple of years we are hoping to multiply this figure by five and have around 50 engineers working at the site.”
Applus+ IDIADA has bases across 22 countries with over 1,700 engineers worldwide, providing design, engineering and homologation services to the global automotive industry.
Richard Pomfret, managing director of Reeves & Partners, which has offices in Coventry and Leamington, said: “It is great to attract inward investment to the Nuneaton area and we are delighted to see that IDIADA will be able to use the site to expand their services.
“Our principal concern is the lack of supply in the market due to the absence of new build properties. It is vital for all areas to have a pipeline of suitable premises available to attract companies looking to move into that location and to ensure that local firms are able to thrive and expand.
“A number of companies expressed an interest in this particular property, which is well located, is of modern design and benefits from a large secure yard.
“We have seen an increase in the number of company’s looking to relocate to office and warehouse space on the Bermuda Industrial Estate, which offers a large variety of commercial properties as well as great transport links to the UK motorway network.”
