Following the success of the Three Peaks Charity Challenge back in 2009 Neil Stubbs and Richard Channing of Vickery Holman decided to take on a bigger challenge; attempting to summit all 15 mountains in Wales over 3000 feet in 24 hours.
The challenge officially began on the summit of Snowdon at 4:30am following a short (and very wet!) bivi on the mountain. The route comprised an arduous 32 miles of mountain running walking and scrambling across 3 mountain ranges, taking in all 15 peaks over 3000 feet in height.
Richard and Neil made great time and finished the challenge, on the summit of Foel Fras, 17 hours and 58 minutes later, well inside the 24-hour window, just leaving a five-mile walk back to the car in the dark.
The duo were supported by Kate Mills and Laura Tillett, also of Vickery Holman, who drove and organised food at the two points where the route crossed roads.
Vickery Holman are attempting to raise £3000 for St Luke’s Hospice, but have yet to reach their target – donations can be made at: www.justgiving.com/vickeryholmanwelsh3000schallenge
