LCP supports global manufacturer’s expansion within the Black Country

A global manufacturer of multidiscipline support solutions for a wide  range of industries has expanded its operations in the Black Country following a sustained period of growth.

Øglaend System UK Ltd has taken a 10-year lease on Unit 6, The Woods Bank Estate – a 23,081 sq ft warehouse/industrial unit in Wednesbury – to support an increase in business in the aircraft, submarine, and oil and gas industries.

The Woods Bank Estate, owned and managed by leading property company London and Cambridge Properties (LCP), is located in an established industrial area within two miles of junction 9 of the M6. The site provides easy access to Wolverhampton, Walsall, Darlaston and Birmingham. Other tenants include Balfour Beatty and Zoggs International.

Øglaend System UK Ltd has relocated from a smaller unit at Springfield Industrial Estate, Oldbury, which is also owned by LCP, to the steel portal frame unit at The Woods Bank Estate, which boasts five roller shutters for security and a large secure yard.

Andy Foulkes, managing director at Øglaend System UK Ltd, said a boom in business meant that the company had outgrown its previous premises.

The move not only means that it can consolidate more of its stock – some of which is stored in a warehouse in the North East of England – to the West Midlands, it also means it has capacity to become the European hub of GRP/FRP Support Containment Systems.

“It’s great news for us as a company to be a European hub and for customers of GRP cable containment systems because they can take delivery of stock much quicker, rather than having to wait up to eight weeks to have items shipped from Malaysia,” said Andy.

“It also means that we can store more goods here in the West Midlands, rather than having the logistical difficulties of getting goods consolidated from around the UK.

“Our new premises enables us to grow straight away and gives us breathing space for the future. We added a couple of new members of staff last year and we hope that we can add another one or two people to the workforce within 12 months.

“We’ve enjoyed a buoyant couple of years across our key sectors and moving to new, larger premises that have such excellent road network links is a great advantage.”

Paula James, sales negotiator at LCP, said: “This unit is ideal for Øglaend System’s needs, with capacity to undertake more production and to have the advantage of a secure yard. We are delighted to have assisted an existing tenant in their expansion into larger business premises.”

Øglaend System UK Ltd, part of Øglaend System Group, was founded in Norway in 1977. The company develops, manufactures and sells multidiscipline support solutions, cable tray and cable ladders to a range of industries across the world, including oil and gas,
infrastructure, marine, wind power, water treatment and clean room industries, to mention a few.
