Bruton Knowles has enhanced its building surveying team in Birmingham with the appointment of Jim Whiteman.
Jim joins the firm as a senior building surveyor having previously worked at Gerald Eve LLP for 12 years, and most recently at Christopher Thomas Architects & Chartered Building Surveyors, where he was an owning partner.
As a building surveyor, Jim specialises in project management, development appraisals and monitoring, asset management, acquisition surveys, and dilapidation work. Previous clients have included Brakes, Tata Steel, UKDS, Peugeot/Citroen, Travis Perkins, Soho Estates and Whitbread.
At Bruton Kowles, Jim’s main clients include Boropex Holdings Limited and Funding Circle, a peer-to-peer lender launching into the real estate market after providing £200m in loans to British business during its first three years of operation.
As well as being a specialist building surveyor, Jim is currently studying for an MSc in Conservation of the Historic Environment and is also a member of the Birmingham Cathedral Fabric Advisory Committee.
Ian Pitt, partner and head of Bruton Knowles’ Birmingham office, said: “Jim brings with him a wealth of experience in building surveying and his knowledge and expertise, particularly in the specialist area of building conservation, will be a valuable addition to the building consultancy team.”
