Increasing numbers of cars rolling off UK production lines are ramping up demand for quality showroom outlets across the West.
Automotive and Roadside specialist Will Jolly from Colliers International said the latest hotspot is at Matford Green near Exeter where Volkswagen have already taken a lease on a state of the art, 35,000 sq ft facility.
He said: “We have also agreed terms for another motor dealer to take a two-acre plot adjoining the VW site, subject to planning permission.”
Will was commenting on latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders which revealed the UK car production had hit 1.3 million cars in the first 11 months of 2013 – a five per cent increase on the previous year – the highest since 2007.
Will said: “With production rates back to pre-recession levels the knock on effect is being felt across the sector.
“A number of operators are on the expansion trail especially in quality locations such as Matford Green which is already the largest concentration of dealerships in the south west and looks set grow as a major regional destination over the new few years.”
