KPMG has expanded its tax team in the Thames Valley with two senior hires.
The firm has appointed Steve Coombs as a director. Steve will head up KPMG’s International Executive Services team in Reading and Bristol. He joins from EY and has over 26 years of experience in helping businesses to set up and manage their operations both into and outside of the UK. He works with a range of clients from established multinationals to companies setting up an international operation for the first time.
James Magrath has also joined the firm as a director in KPMG’s Reading office. James has 20 years corporate tax experience, and spent the last nine years with EY where he established and led the EY UK tax desk based on the US West Coast. James will specialise in offering advice to US companies operating and doing business in the Thames Valley.
David Ashworth, head of tax for KPMG in the Thames Valley, said: “I am pleased to welcome Steve and James to the team. It’s a priority for businesses in our region to achieve sustainable growth and for many these opportunities will lie overseas; we are already seeing increased demand for support in this area.
“It’s also crucial that the UK continues to attract multinationals looking to set up in Europe. With its good transport connections and skilled labour force the Thames Valley is an attractive location for these businesses. Our team will play an important role to advise and guide overseas companies and help them establish their UK base in the Thames Valley.”
