Aircraft engine overhaul company, GE Aviation Wales, has scooped the top award at a national awards ceremony.
The Nanatgarw-based company was awarded the People and Skills award and the prestigious title of Manufacturer of the Year – the top prize at The Manufacturer Awards.
Mike Patton, Managing Director of GE Aviation Wales said: “We are honored to be recognised at these awards. It’s a testament to my team. It takes great people to get the ‘people and skills’ award and we have that at GE Aviation Wales.
“We have a team which is hardworking, dedicated and they know what we need to do, they know what skills we need in order to be successful. I am very proud of this accomplishment and these awards are for our workforce. It’s a great way to say thank you for their continuous support of the business.”
The Manufacturer of the Year award is attributed by the judges to a category winner which the panel believes to be the best all-round ambassador for competitive manufacturing in the UK and a role model for peers in the industry.
GE Aviation Wales overhauls, repairs and maintains aircraft engines for over 90 customers worldwide including easyJet, Continental and Emirates. Over the last five years the company has increased in growth following investment in technology and resource, helping to boost operating performance and increase the volume of work carried out annually.
Continued Mike: “These accolades end a great year for GE Aviation Wales and we look forward to continuing to build on this success in 2014.”
The Awards ceremony was hosted at the ICC in Birmingham and attracted 800 guests from manufacturing companies and supporting organisations, a record crowd for the event which has been running for 15 years.
