A Southampton tax expert has scooped a national award.
James Lambert, a tax executive at Grant Thornton in Southampton, was named Junior Chamber International UK’s ‘Most Outstanding New Member’ at the body’s national conference. The 32-year-old is now in the running for the international equivalent of the UK-wide award.
Junior Chamber International is a voluntary organisation which empowers people in their 20s and 30s to create positive change. Run by its own members, it is nearly 100 years old and exists in more than 100 countries. Former members include Al Gore, Bill Clinton and John F Kennedy.
James, who has been at Grant Thornton for 18 months, was crowned the ‘UK’s Most Outstanding New Member’ because of his heavy involvement in the Southampton branch.
He has been involved in several projects and attended events across the UK and Europe, most recently representing the UK at a training academy in Turkey.
Reflecting on his award he said: “It’s been really rewarding being involved in Junior Chamber International projects which have helped to raise money for charity and engage young people in business while developing my professional and personal skills at the same time. To win the award is the icing on the cake.”
Stephen Mills, Practice Leader for Grant Thornton’s Southampton office, said: “We are very proud of James’ accomplishments. He’s a shining example of the talent we have here at Grant Thornton, using his talents and skills to make a real difference to the local community and economy.”
