Economy Minister Edwina Hart has welcomed the six month report from the Newport Business Development Task Force which is published today.
The Task Force, chaired by Prof. Simon Gibson who is Chief Executive of Wesley Clover, was set up earlier this year by the Minister to look at ways to revitalise Newport City Centre.
The group was tasked with identifying the barriers to business growth in Newport and to examine ways to bring business life back into the City and make recommendations.
The Minister said: ”I should like to thank Simon Gibson and the Task Force members for their hard work and innovative thinking in developing the recommendations outlined in the report. I will now consider the report in detail and provide a more detailed response in the New Year.
“I should also like to extend my thanks to those who engaged with the Task Force as well as the people of Newport for their contribution to the consultation.”
A web portal and Twitter feed was launched to encourage citizens and stakeholders to share their thoughts and suggestions on improving and revitalising the city centre.
